Home Clergy Letter Beacon Group Reports Safeguarding

The Guild is responsible for financing the upkeep and maintenance of St. Lawrence's Ancient Church.

Our main fundraising event in 2013 was a Traditional Jazz Evening which was a sell out and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. September saw a very successful Coffee Morning with a Bring and Buy stall, a Raffle and a Cake stall while the summer season of Guided Tours once again proved popular. While not fund-raising events, we also benefited from the generous collections taken at the annual ecumenical St. Lawrencetide and Carol Services.

The Ecumenical Carol Service returned to its old tradition of having a Salvation Army Band to play the carols and we welcomed six members of the Croydon Citadel Band. It was a wonderful service and the Ancient Church was full to overflowing.

Fortunately no major repairs have had to be done in the church but the broken capital has now been beautifully repaired. Outside, the grounds continue to be well maintained and the new path around the church is finished.

Membership of the Guild is open to all. There is no fixed subscription but we do ask for a minimum donation of £2 a year please. Application forms are in both St. Lawrence's and St. Mary's churches.
